Priva have updated their hx web engine it now comes in this sexy little din rail mounted version. Dual nic. Whole lot of programming / graphics and commissioning going on this month.

Well I have to get back to configuring the file server. I have just installed a new drobo fs unit and it seems to handle the office load pretty well. Not to mention when the remaining drives arrive we will have double redundancy on the system. If those of you tech people are thinking what about off site backup then the drobo has a backup facility to local machine. I have just set it to mirror to the a local redundant pc that we use mozy on. This therefore takes care of  the nightly backups. It is a pretty sweet little unit and should see us right for I would say 5 years. That is of course unless the industry changes radically and video or such like is required to be stored for projects.

I expect the next post will be around Christmas.

EMC is undergoing changes and require a new team member. We have been operating for 21 years now in the controls sector and have the need for a new dynamic individual.

It is time for someone to help out with our workload.

Our preference is for an individual who is/can

• Keen to learn new skills.
• Adapt to a small company environment.
• Have a good grasp of mathematics.
• Be computer literate (MS Office suite and using a database).
• Good telephone manner.
• Smart in appearance as customer site visits may be required from project to project.

Become part of a well established team who are committed to the electrical controls sector.

Calvin is in training for a large Priva project.  Dan is our primary commissioning engineer and now Calvin is being trained in the priva way. Past experience with this product has been very promising. We are yet to have any reports from field engineers letting us know of faults occuring in hardware. Only time will tell as us the long term performance but the company is well established and tried and tested in the controls sector. We therefore believe that these systems are built upon a reliable structure.

We are bus in all areas of the business both in the workshop and out in the field.

Below Dan is currently working on a test rig for a project in London. Window actuators are controlled via modbus communications.  At the moment he is making his way through the multitude of potential parameters to achieve our desired control strategy. More on modbus can be found out here. The final system will be integrated into a Priva controls system. Requirements change from project to project, should you have a requirement for natural ventilation control then please do contact us here.

Anyway this is for those of you who do not know who we are and what we do.  We have been in the electrical controls business for over 21 years at our current address. Most of us have been working longer in the controls sector in various guises.  We are a medium sized business with a team that care about what we do. Our skill sets are diverse from employee to employee. This plays to our advantage as the controls sector requires from the ground up

I myself Adrian take care of the Workshop / IT management and graphical design for products. It has been increasingly required that internet enabled web controllers be installed in projects. This has numerous advantages to the customer namely having access to plant away from site. It may be that the client does not wish this but would like to have convenient control from their desktop. This is naturally possible providing the client has a web browser ,the process is as simple as logging in being presented with plant style graphics that reflect the particular plant they have installed in the building. Should the specification require it logging of values can be incorporated to monitor particular areas of a building. Our workshop control panel wireman are all committed to manufacturing to quality products this too goes hand in hand with the install staff. It is very rare that when someone joins EMC they move on to another employer. Our have all grown with the business and we all work together towards a common goal…… Your project.

It isn’t all we controllers and wizardry. You may have a project with more modest  requirements such as a medium to large domestic property.
